When I visited Iceland in the early summer, and they discovered I was an astrologer, I was asked what was in store for the country. I admitted it was not something I had looked at recently but wondered if the Uranus Jupiter conjunction of April 2024 may hit the chart leading to a notable volcanic event.
One thing and another has kept me from looking at it till now, when the news is reporting a potential eruption near Grindavik. Since today’s new Moon is exactly at the degree of the April 2024 conjunction, it seems as if there may be a connection.
So, let’s remedy the omission and look at the chart.
We can immediately see that the new moon and Uranus are square to the Icelandic natal Jupiter at 22 Leo. [1]
I think we can conclude that the connection is strong. We might have escaped a full eruption now but, if so, then April-May of next year is the time to watch for. Especially since the new Moon in April will be conjunct the Icelandic progressed Moon and the new Moon in May conjoins the natal Moon.
We can also note that the impact of the New Moon has been reinforced by the conjunction of the transiting angles ( Ascendant and MC) with the progressed Iceland ones. The transiting Ascendant for the time of the new Moon is also opposite the Icelandic natal Moon, again emphasising the importance of the event, and square the natal Mars- our favourite trigger.
It is worth noting that during 2024 the square between the progressed Uranus and progressed Sun will be exact, this is often a sign of big changes – usually in leadership but in this case it could literally be the country itself that is affected. We can’t ignore the approaching square between transiting Neptune and the Iceland Sun either.
Another interesting factor in the chart is the approaching conjunction of progressed Venus with the Icelandic natal Neptune and then Ascendant. I don’t think this is a major factor in the volcanic activity, although obviously every little aspect helps, but
I do think it is interesting from the point of view of the image of the country over the coming couple of years. I imagine it will be reflected in partnerships and later (as it conjoins progressed Mars) in trading blocks etc. Worth following even if not directly volcanic related.
[1] Incidentally that Jupiter is close to the UK Saturn, something that played out in 2008 when the Icelandic banks caused problems for the UK financial system
