Venezuela January 2026
The astrology of Venezuela January 2026
It has been a while since I had to chance to explore a topic just for interest. But in this case I was working on Venezuela only a few days before the events of January 3rd. So, it seemed like a great opportunity to look at little deeper at the chart of the moment.
I use the original Captaincy chart from 1877 relocated from Spanish time. ( I do like to use the earliest chart I can in every case). Unlike the later 1811 chart it does not have the Sun conjoining the US ( Sibley chart) Sun. However, instead it has its Midheaven at 13 Cancer, which as we will see is a key factor in events.

Let us first consider why that degree is important. The answer is clear from the transit chart above- the full moon ( with the Sun conjunct Mars) was almost exact across the MC/IC axis. And, thus, obviously, has the US Sibley Sun conjoining the Moon itself.
But of course the story does not start with this event. It starts in 1776 and 1777, the births of the two nations.
We know that the US has recently undergone its Pluto return at 27 ( natal) -29 (progressed) Capricorn. This return signifies a re-evaluation of the foundations on which the country was built.
We can see from the above chart that Venezuela’s natal Pluto is also at 27 degrees but its progressed Pluto is at 1 degree. It has had a much longer Pluto effect than the US, lasting from 2022 until now. Indeed we have seen the political and economic issues that have dogged the country over the last few years ( Pluto has also been square the natal Saturn making the hardships much worse). Pluto has, in fact, only recently encountered its last exact transit to the progressed Pluto point. This may indicate the story of the developments which led to the opposition cooperating under the leadership of Machado.
Previous opposition leaders and attempts to undermine Maduro have failed but it seems Pluto has shifted that balance. We can further note that the Sun at full Moon is not only accompanied by Mars but by Venus, an enabler in the events.
We also notice that while the transit of Pluto to Pluto ended the progressed Ascendant is still making a quincunx with the natal Pluto, suggesting that the challenges are not over.
We can also see in the chart that the progressed Sun at 23 Taurus has only recently opposed the natal Mars at 23 Scorpio-another indicator of the ongoing pressures on the leadership.
That things were shifting is also indicated by the progression of the Moon into Capricorn in the last month.
However it is the impact of progressed Mercury that is most interesting as it approaches conjunction with natal Uranus, a sextile to natal Jupiter and a square to the natal Sun as well as making a trine to the natal Ascendant/Descendant axis. This is perfect symbolism for major (Jupiter) sudden shocks ( Uranus) that challenge the leader ( sun) and have connection to other nations (Asc/Des) especially when we see how it pulls in the transiting Mars that is at the IC at the time of the Full Moon.
So that broadly explains the explosive news after many years of pressures for Venezuela. But where do we go from here. At this point Maduro is still claiming to be the rightful president and his team are still leading the country. How the US plan to “run” Venezuela, and how Venezuelans will accept it in the longer term, is not yet clear.
We know that the US, having dealt with its Pluto is now going full steam ahead towards a Uranus one and the same is the case for Venezuela, although it will happen a little later than in the US.
Both transiting Neptune and Uranus will aspect the progressed Pluto, natal Saturn and Venus in the coming months. And we further note how progressed Mars will move into Taurus In early 2027 after over 50 years in Aries, and then it will quincunx the natal Saturn which is not a pleasant combination. And with Mercury trundling over that Uranus/Jupiter/Sun/Ascendant configuration for the next few years there is no indication that things will settle down any time soon.
