As readers will know I do have a weakness for a bit of financial drama, and this week the Universe has seen fit to indulge my addiction with the Silicon Valley Bank saga.
All I can find on the foundation of this bank is that it was the result of a poker game in 1982/3. It is a chart likely sensitive to Pluto Saturn and to Uranus Jupiter. The fact that the details are obscured also suggests the working of Neptune. That’s a pretty full house ( pun intended) of outer planets, but with so little to go on we have to accept that we need to find another chart.
The IPO is dated as 17 December 1987 (you picked a fine year to list-y, SV), and we’ve set the chart for opening of normal trading at 9.30. Obviously this is the chart of the shares rather than the company but it should tell us the most relevant parts of the story.
The SVB stock was suspended before normal trading on Friday 10 March 2023, but as I am not sure again of the exact time I’ve set this chart for 9.30 too.
We can immediately see Pluto at 29 degrees just past the 28degree Ascendant. Obviously this has been building for some weeks. The Aquarian new Moon was at 0 degree Aquarius which is conjunct the SVB progressed Sun. Pluto will very shortly move into Aquarius and conjoin that Sun. End of the line for the current incarnation and the leadership.
It is interesting to see how these aspects are still unfolding. There are rumours that the board members cashed in their chips (sorry, it is just too tempting)in the weeks before the event. I would suggest that this will come back to roost for them as Pluto reaches the progressed Sun.
At the time of suspension Mars, usually a significator of rapid trading, is in opposition to the natal Saturn – an indicator of restriction. However at the same time Uranus, planet of shocks and drama is opposite the SVP IPO Mars. Prior to the suspension ( and subsequent intervention by the regulators) the stock had fallen rapidly and dramatically- exactly as Uranus opposite Mars would suggest.
We can also note that there is a lot happening elsewhere in the chart too. Transiting Neptune is approaching the conjunction of the North Node and the progressed Ascendant. But it is also square the natal Saturn Sun Uranus conjunction. Add to this a conjunction of the progressed Midheaven with Saturn ( owch) and we have pretty much the same story as the Pluto position.
It is also applying so the story is not yet complete. We can expect more developments today as the transiting Sun square’s Mercury, and in the coming week as it moves over the whole stellium and reaches transiting Neptune Wednesday-Thursday.
Note how at the time of suspension the Moon is at 24 Libra picking up all these planets. In addition it is square the SVB 12th house Venus. We see that the progressed Moon has conjoined progressed Venus ( sextile Neptune) – indicative that the value has been realised by many shareholders and those who participated in the bank run, no doubt at the expense of the other depositors. This too is further confirmed by the conjunction of transiting Venus with progressed Jupiter- though this probably also reflects the Regulatory involvement. Very soon over the coming couple of weeks the progressed Moon will square progressed Mars- suggesting quick resolution for the fate of the money at least.
It will be fascinating to follow how it unfolds as the planets continue their journeys.
